We’ll never forget the day doctors told us there was nothing more they could do for our daughter. As parents, nothing prepares you for that kind of news. For us, our daughter Hannah’s healing came in the most unexpected way—through an old cassette tape buried in the back of someone’s drawer. That tape was filled with timeless truth from the Word of God, and it opened our eyes to something we’d never fully understood before: God’s will to heal isn’t a mystery. It’s a promise!

A Hopeless Diagnosis and a Last Resort
When Hannah was three years old, she was diagnosed with eosinophilic enteropathy—an autoimmune condition so rare that even the doctors told us to Google it! Her immune system reacted to food as if it were poison. She couldn’t keep anything down and was severely underweight. At three and a half, she was the size of a nine-month-old baby!
Eventually, doctors inserted a feeding tube and placed her on a machine that ran 23 hours a day. It pumped synthetic formula into her stomach to keep her alive, but even that didn’t work. Her body began rejecting the formula, and she deteriorated rapidly. Her skin turned translucent, her hair fell out, and she looked like a child wasting away before our eyes.
We were associate pastors, believers in healing, and people of faith—but we were desperate and confused. We had prayed. Others had prayed. But Hannah kept getting worse, and we didn’t understand why.
Discovering the Truth About God’s Will to Heal
That’s when everything changed. One day, while searching for something to listen to, we found a forgotten cassette tape. Our car didn’t have a CD player—only a tape deck—so we popped it in. What we heard floored us. It was a teaching entitled Your New Identity in Christ by Andrew Wommack, and it included a lot about God’s will to heal!
We’d heard sermons on healing before, but this was different. For the first time, someone clearly taught us that God’s will is always to heal—not just sometimes, not just for certain people, but always. Up until that moment, we had prayed “if it’s Your will” kind of prayers. But that teaching helped us realize that faith can’t operate where the will of God is unknown!
That truth hit us like a lightning bolt. We weren’t begging for healing anymore—we were believing for it. That shift in our thinking made all the difference.
Feeding Our Faith and Fighting for Hannah
We spent the next two weeks saturating ourselves with the Word of God. We listened to every teaching we could find about healing. We filled our home with Scripture. Post-it notes covered our walls. We weren’t just hoping anymore—we were meditating on truth, and that truth was setting us free.
During that time, God gave Carlie three visions of Hannah’s future. In one, she saw her riding a little red tricycle. In another, she was walking through school gates in a green uniform. And in the third, she was a bride, walking down the aisle with her dad. Each vision reminded us that our daughter wasn’t destined for death—she was called to live.
And then came another surprise. We checked the ministry website and found out that Andrew Wommack would be in England the very next day. We knew we had to go! It wasn’t about meeting a man—it was about acting on what we believed. So we loaded Hannah, her feeding machine, and our two sons into the car and drove across the country.
When Healing Came
At the conference, Hannah was too sick to stay in the main room, so we sat in a back room for families. Someone noticed how unwell she looked and asked Andrew to come and pray. He did—nothing dramatic, just a simple prayer while Hannah slept.
When she woke up, we told her, “Jesus healed you while you were asleep.” She looked at us and said, “I want McDonald’s!” This was a child who had never eaten solid food—and now she was asking for fast food! We couldn’t find a McDonald’s, but we got her KFC instead. Fried chicken, fries, brownies—the works.
We watched in amazement as she ate her very first real meal. She swallowed without choking. She smiled. She ran around the restaurant (keep in mind, she was too weak to walk before)! She was fine.
Until the ride home—when she suddenly began to choke.
Standing on the Word in the Moment of Decision
Everything in us wanted to panic. But instead, Ashley turned around and said, “Choking, stop right now in Jesus’ name.” And it did. A few minutes later, it started again. He spoke again with authority, and it stopped—for good!
This was different from how we’d prayed before. We didn’t beg. We didn’t plead. We knew God’s will to heal, and we exercised the authority we had as believers. That moment sealed it. The Word had taken root in our hearts, and faith was in action.
God’s Will to Heal Is For Everyone
Back at home, we never plugged the feeding machine back in. Hannah kept eating, and within days, a nurse came to check on her. She was stunned. We returned to the hospital for testing, and after multiple evaluations, the doctors said they couldn’t find a single thing wrong.
They wrote the word “miracle” in her chart.
From that day forward, Hannah grew strong. She caught up in weight and height. Her hair returned. She started school, wore that green uniform, and Ashley walked her down the aisle on her wedding day!
We saw all three visions come to pass!
Your Healing Begins Today
