There are only two types of Christians: those who have God’s favor and believe it, and those who have God’s favor and don’t believe it. If you are a believer, you do have God’s favor in your life. Ashley and Carlie help us to believe and begin walking in the favor of God.

Announcer: Why live a normal life, when you could be living the abundant life. Welcome to the Abundant Life program with Ashley and Carlie Terradez.
Ashley: Hello and Welcome to Abundant Life. We’re so glad you joined us today in the lounge. Today we’ve got an exciting program for you. We’re looking at God’s favor. I look at it like this, there’s only two types of Christians: those who are born again and have God’s favor on their life and believe it, and those are born again, have God’s favor in their life and don’t believe it.
Carlie: I know which one I’d rather be.
Ashley: Amen. Come on. If you’re born again, you have God’s favor, praise God. If you’re a believer, you have God’s favor in your life. And the question is, do you believe it? Are you walking in it? That’s what we’re going to look at today.
Carlie: Amen. We have the favor of God, God looks at us and he’s pleased.
Ashley: Amen.
Carlie: Amen. We’re his kids and he’s proud of us And there is nothing that we can do about that. Favor is an interesting thing. We can see all the way through the Old and the New Testament, but we’re going to look here at, and this is one of my favorite scriptures this is in Psalm 103. If you have a Bible turn there for me for a minute. This is written by David and it’s, “Bless the Lord, O my soul.” And he goes through all these different things. This is David’s pep-talk and he’s rallying himself up here.
Ashley: He’s talking to himself. He’s telling himself to bless the Lord.
Carlie: He is.
Ashley: This is a side note, but it’s important. Sometimes, you need to tell yourself, bless the Lord. I tell people, the time when you least feel like giving thanks, the time when you least feel like praising God, is the most important time you can do it. And I’ve been at times in my life when I’ve had to praise God almost through gritted teeth. You’re like, “Lord, thank you.” Because things are tough and we’re not thanking God for those things, because God only does good things for us. But sometimes we go through issues. Sometimes we go through trials and tribulations and you know what? We can still worship God and we can still give thanks.
Carlie: You can give thanks in all things. Not for all things.
Ashley: Amen. We can always find something to give thanks for. I love this. David’s telling himself, “You know what? You bless the Lord. You bless the Lord O my soul.” And he’s talking to himself. Sometimes it’s good to get in the mirror and say, “You know what? Bless the Lord, O my soul.” When you least feel like it.
Carlie: Amen. Let’s look here of what he says. He says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his Holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Favor, we’re going to come to find is one of His benefits. “Who forgives all of your inequities.” How many?
Ashley: All of them.
Carlie: All of them. All of them, every single one and heals how many of your diseases?
Ashley: All your diseases.
Carlie: All your diseases, just so we can clear that up. Okay? “Who redeemed your life from destruction, and crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies and satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” The bit that I want to look specifically at, in this passage is, “Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies.” If you study this out, the word crowns that’s talking about to encircle us.
He encircles us with lovingkindness. Another word for lovingkindness is favor. So you could say he encircles us with his favor. I was thinking about this the other day and the Lord showed me a picture like a hula hoop. If anyone’s ever done hula hooping.
Ashley: You mean like the…
Carlie: Yeah, like the plastic rings that you put round.
Ashley: Not like the chips. In England they have chips called Hula Hoops. Not those.
Carlie: No. They wouldn’t fit around your waist. They put the hula hoop around you and you have to kind of wiggle your hips, anyway.
Ashley: How’d you do it?
Carlie: I’m not going to do that. The little hula hoop dance, The favor of God is like a hula hoop. If you’re standing holding the hula hoop around you, that circle is all the way around you. It goes before you, it goes behind you, it goes on every side of you. The favor of God, as you walk the favor of God, the front edge of that circle is going before you. And it’s covering up behind. Amen. Praise Jesus. It’s protecting all the way around you like a shield.
Ashley: That’s it. Yeah. Like a forcefield if you like that.
Carlie: Exactly.
Ashley: It doesn’t matter where you’re going and what you’re doing, just imagine this, because this is the truth. Start getting a picture of this, the favor of God has gone before you. As you go into that job interview, as you go into that relationship, as you go into that business deal. Whatever it is, you go into that ministry opportunity. The favor of God has gone ahead of you and prepared the way. Be prepared to receive favor when you go there. Our pastor says this to us all the time. He says, “You have favor with God favor with man and a good understanding.” And it’s good to believe that and start receiving that. If you’re watching today and you’re a believer, you have favor with God, praise God, you have favor. Start expecting that favor to go ahead of you. And before you, wherever you go.
Carlie: Actually, this is really cool in Psalms five, verse 12, it says, “For You, O Lord will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround them as with a shield.”
Ashley: That’s cool.
Carlie: The favor of God is a shield, it is a protective covering. Like Ashley’s saying, we can expect it. Really believers should be hot on the list for new recruits. Businesses should want to be hiring. If you’re an employer or a business owner, you’re going to want to hire believers. Why? Because the favor of God is on their life. We are blessing magnets.
Ashley: Amen. That’s good. I like that.
Carlie: We are attracting opportunities. We are attracting resources. We are blessing magnets for the kingdom.
Ashley: In one place I worked, I only worked there three days a week. So I was on contract and worked there three days a week. Whenever I’d go in there to work, they seem to do more business, not just through me, but through the other people that were there. And it got to the point where they used to literally ask me, “Ashley, can you work these days? Things just seem to work better when you’re here.”
Carlie: Even on their quietest days. I remember Fridays, Ashley didn’t used to work on a Friday, but he’d have to go in to pick up his check. This is a long time ago now, before they put it straight into your bank account. But he’d have to go in on a Friday to pick up his check on his day off. And usually Fridays were, were fairly good. But Fridays, since you weren’t working, we’re really, really slow. They might not sell a car all day, but Ashley would go in on the lunch hour. And during that lunch, or as he was picking up his check, he might get three or four car sales.
Ashley: I know. It was crazy.
Carlie: It was ridiculous favor.
Ashley: It’s the favor of God. It’s nothing I did, particularly. It was just, there’s the favor of God on my life. And I believed it. It’s the same for you. What God did for me, He’ll do for you. If you start believing this and start walking in, God’s favor. It doesn’t matter where you work. It doesn’t matter what you do. The favor of God can be present there. We’re talking about favor of God that gives you promotions, favor of God that gives you increases, favor of God that gives you favor with people. I’ve been in situations where I’ve been positioned in places that in the natural I wouldn’t normally be positioned in, but God’s favors as has gone ahead of me and paved a way [crosstalk 00:06:42].
Carlie: He’s opened doors of opportunity for you to work in positions that you weren’t really qualified for.
Ashley: It’s true. Don’t tell them that. Shh.
Carlie: There might’ve been other people that were better qualified than you.
Ashley: Don’t let the secrets out. It’s true. The favor of God [crosstalk].
Carlie: It makes you look good.
Ashley: It will make you look good. God’s will for you is to succeed. God’s will for you is for promotion and for success. The favor of God can do so much for you. There are some things in the natural you can do. I’m thinking about Joseph, for instance, I don’t know if she’s going to look at Joseph or not, but the life of Joseph is a great example of the favor of God. When he went into the into Potiphar’s house, he had the favor of God on him. This in Genesis 38, 39, you could look around there. He went into Potiphar’s house and what Potiphar says, “I see that everything you do prospers because the Lord is with you.”
What happened was, because Joseph believed the Lord was with him and he had a spirit of excellence. He did everything. He was diligent. He did things with a spirit of excellence. He did everything as unto the Lord. God’s favor was all over him. And he got promoted from going in as just a servant in Potiphar’s house to running the whole of Potiphar’s house.
Carlie: Right.
Ashley: And then it happened again in prison. He was in prison. He had the spirit of excellence. He had favor in prison and he went to be one of the prison guards from a prisoner to the prison guard. Then it happened again. He ended up with favoring in the palace and ended up going and being the second in charge of Egypt with Pharaoh. It just shows you God’s favor can promote you. God’s favor can give you supernatural promotions, supernatural opportunities.
Carlie: You might be going in at the bottom of the barrel, like Joseph in the dungeon, but very soon, the favor of God, if you stay diligent to the things of God and start having that spirit of excellence, that thankfulness was what you were saying, you’ll rise to the top. That favor will promote you. You wouldn’t be able to help it. Actually the book of Psalms has a lot to say about favor, and this is Psalm 90 verse 17. I like how it says it in the amplified, it says, “The favor of the Lord our God will be upon us and establish the work of our hands- Yes, establish the work of our hands.” The favor of God establishes and confirms the work of our hands. In other words, wherever you put your hand to prospers, is what it says in the scripture. Whatever we put our hand to prospers and the favor of God is what causes our work, our effort to be established and confirmed and promoted.
Ashley: That’s awesome. Praise God. This will work wherever you are. This will work in any situation you say, “Well, Ashley you don’t know. You don’t understand where I work, where I work, it’s a tough place or whatever, they’re all unbelievers.” It doesn’t matter, the favor of God… In fact, the favor of God will show up even stronger sometimes in a place like that because, the presence of God, you carry the presence of God. You carry the kingdom of God. When you go in somewhere like that, start expecting it. And as Carlie said, “There’s some things we can do to really attract the favor of God.” We already have it as believers, but if we go to moaning about our workplace and moaning about our boss and being slack at things and not having a spirit of excellence, we’re not going to walk in that favor.
That favor is not going to manifest if you like. But if we go in there and you do it, everything as unto the Lord and you do your best and you’re diligent and you’re thankful and you’re keeping communion with God, then the favor of God’s just going to manifest in your life. It doesn’t matter where you are. It doesn’t matter. I’ve seen this work in the worst places possible. I’ve seen people literally in prisons in England have favor. I’ve seen people in businesses that you think, “These businesses they’re so ungodly.” But then they still have favor in these businesses and amazing things happen, promotions and increase. It’s almost supernatural because you look back, it’s almost laughable. You think, “How could this be?” It’s the favor of God.
Carlie: Amen. Amen. I remember once when we were back in England and we were hard up front to pay our bills and we were running a little bit low on the liquid cash. I just got to one and complaining and moaning at God. And he’s like, “What’s the matter?” I was telling him all of my woes. He said, “You know what? The problem is, you’ve just forgotten you’re blessed. You forgot you’re blessed. You forgot, you got favor on your life.” I’m like, “Lord, you’re right.” I’d been reading the Old Testament where it says the flocks of your field of blessed and everything you touch prospers. I go out and I start to laying hands on the car. Red car, you’re blessed blue car, you’re blessed. It didn’t matter what kind of car they are only remember them by the color of the car.
The rest of is not important. Started tidying up the kitchen and preparing for rain as we’ve talked about. I just had this revelation, we don’t need lots of buyers. We just need one buyer there, usually one buyer for each car. I set my faith to walk in the favor that God had put on us. Whoever comes in our property, regardless of what they’re looking for, they’re going to leave with one of our cars. I just started to place a demand upon that favor. And sure enough, we had must have had 10 cars in our lot that hadn’t been selling for ages. Within a few days, all of those cars sold because I changed my attitude. That was huge. I started placing the demand upon the favor of God. We even had people come in and they were like, “I don’t even know why I’m buying this car?” This favor of God.
Ashley: And the favor it will work in, I remember once I was playing soccer, football, soccer for a team, and one of the people on the team was a pastor of a church. And I got to talking to him and this is in England. Anyway, before long, he invited me to be on leadership at his church. And then as just a few months later, he invited me to, to be one of the associate pastors. And then it was just a few months after that, he invited me to be the assistant pastor to him.
Carlie: This is a big church in England.
Ashley: It was a big church in England. I turned him down and said, “This is not what I feel called to at the moment.” And then he came back to, he said, “What is it I’ve been rethinking this whole assistant pastor thing. I don’t want you to be the assistant pastor. I want you to be co-pastors. I want me and you to lead this church together, 50, 50.” This is a big church.
Carlie: He’d been there 20 something years.
Ashley: He’d been there 27 years at the time. And he was basically offering me half his church, a big church. That’s the favor of God. I didn’t have a peace about that. I didn’t feel that was where God wanted us at the time. And we had a different call on our life. We went ahead with that. I tell people if God hasn’t called you to something, if you haven’t got a clear word from God, then serve another man’s. That would have been good. You know, if we hadn’t had a word from God already to serve Andrew Wommack Ministries, we would have served at that church. God’s favor is also, that was just the favor of God. I was on leadership, was able to have some influence in that church. We had a great time there of ministry. But I’m telling you when God’s favor is active in your life, there’s no stop. It knows no bounds. It can break through barriers. It can break through different things where naturally you won’t be able to break through.
Carlie: Amen. I was just thinking about, we just read that the favor of God surrounds us like a shield. You see, the favor of God is also a protective covering. You can see this in the book of Exodus. This is Moses in Exodus three and let’s do verse 19. It says, “But I’m sure the King of Egypt will not let you go, not even by my mighty hand. So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with My wonders, which I will do in its midst; and after that he will let you go. And I will give these people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be when you go that you shall not go empty-handed. But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, namely of those who dwell narrow house articles of silver obstacles of gold and clothing, and you should put them on your sons and on your daughters and you shall plunder the Egyptians.”
Moses did not walk out of Egypt with a battle. He walked out of Egypt with faith and favor, faith and favor go together. And they go before us and they protect us and they attract provision to us. Then this is so supernatural, you can pick it up again in Exodus 11 in verse two, it says, “Speak now in the hearing of the people. And every man asked from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold, and the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt and in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.” This is crazy. You just think about it, these people had been held as slaves for hundreds of years.
The Egyptians have held them as slaves, making them build their temples and their cities for hundreds of years. They’d lived in abstract poverty. They had slave drivers that whipped them. They were starved. They were mistreated. And just like that, the hearts of the Egyptians changed because God sent his favor before Moses. You can just imagine being a Hebrew, “Oh, favors come? Wonderful.” Knock, knock on the neighbor’s house. “Excuse me. Can I have your silver and gold please?” “Oh, of course you may. Here are these. Here’s some for your sons. Here’s some for your daughters, go be wonder filled.” How does that happen?
Ashley: These are their masters one minute.
Carlie: They’re slave masters.
Ashley: One minute. And the next minute they’re giving them gold an silver.
Carlie: Giving them away, giving them away. The favor of God is not logical. I love that. It goes before us and overtakes us. In Psalm 105, verse 37, let me just find it. It says, this is recounting the same event. He said, “He also brought them out.” The children of Israel. “With silver and gold and there was none feeble among their tribes. Egypt was glad when they had departed for the fear of them had fallen upon them.” The favor of God surrounds us like a shield of protection and it attracts provision to us. Amen. It goes before us, it overtakes us just like the hula hoop. Its our real God. It’s our side shield. And it goes before us, we cannot step out of the favor of God. It is always with us.
Ashley: Amen.
Carlie: That’s powerful.
Ashley: That’s powerful. And some things you can do to activate that, to see it manifest your life. I’ve already said, there’s diligence. There’s thankfulness. How about serving? Serving people attracts the favor of God. It’s amazing, Joseph served when he was in Potiphar’s house, he served the prisoners when he was in prison and that servant hood, that’s basically, it’s when you serve someone, you have to humble yourself. James 4:6 says, “God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.” In Proverbs it talks about how God exalts the humble. And when you choose to serve, when you allow yourself and choose to serve people, then that’s humility. You’re being humble and God will exalt you. And God promotes. Promotion doesn’t come from the North, East, South, or West, promotion comes from the Lord.
And when you do things God’s way… When Jesus was on earth, he served the people he came to serve and he served the people. Therefore he was given a name above any other name. So when you serve people that attracts the favor of God, that releases the favor of God in your life. We’re not trying to get something we haven’t got, we’ve already got favor, but we do these things in the natural, it can create a manifestation of those things in our everyday lives. It’s amazing how you do these things. You’re thankful, you’re diligent. You start serving and being faithful. And it’s amazing when the favor of God starts overflowing in your life. You’ll see those supernatural things, supernatural promotions, supernatural increase and provision. It’s amazing how they come about.
Carlie: It is. And the other thing that’s really interesting is that favor is for a lifetime. People don’t realize this sometimes, but this is again, this is in Psalms 30 and it says in verse five, “His favor is for life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Now in my prosperity, I said, ‘I shall never be moved.’ Lord, by your favor, you have made my mountain stand strong.” Favor is for a lifetime. It is generational. The favor of God is on us, is on our children is on our children’s children. And that’s why it says, train up your children the way that they should go and they shall not depart from it. I started thinking about this, we’ve just read how, when the slaves came out of Egypt, they took all of the silver and the gold.
I started thinking about the Jewish nation, the nation of Israel and how they may have come out of Egypt with all of that silver and gold. That favor is still with them. That generational favor and the silver and the gold, it is still with them. The Jewish nation is one of the most prosperous. When you think about… And it’s interesting when you look at the scriptures and it says that their clothes did not wear out, there was none feeble or sick among them. Their clothes did not wear out and they came out with all the silver and gold man. There’s whole communities of Jewish tailors of Jewish jewelers.
Ashley: That’s interesting. Yeah.
Carlie: They really have an understanding of generational blessing and they walk in that and you can see that in the culture. You just think about the nation of Israel, how small it is, but how mighty and influential it is in the rest of the world. It is the most contested area of land still in the world today, I believe. Because there is a generational blessing in that nation of favor and prosperity. We should honor that. But part of it is because they raised their children up in their culture to understand who God is. This is Jehovah, this is God, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. Because of that, they raised their children up in the tradition of the scripture.
Ashley: Yeah. I just read a book about this. It’s called Thou Shall Prosper, and it’s a book by a rabbi and basically shows how in the Jewish culture, like you’re saying generationally, they teach their children it’s God’s will for them to prosper, not just financially, but in every area of life. It’s God’s will for them to prosper. And they’re to expect the favor of God. They are to expect the favor of God in their life. And that’s why they end up very quickly, usually prospering and being very good at business and owning things and things like that. It’s awesome because they draw on that favor of God. They believe that they have the favor of God and they believe it’s God’s will for them to prosper. Praise God. So it’s great to see that in action. We’re talking in general terms here, but in general terms, Jewish people often a very prosperous.
Carlie: Supernatural blessing. [crosstalk]
Ashley: They have a supernatural blessing, the Lord over them.
It’s powerful. We can have that same… In fact, we have more than the Jewish nation if you think about it, we have even more than they have. So we should be prospering even more than they are. We should be walking in that favor even more than they are, praise God. It’s exciting when you realize that this is available to us, we already have it. All we need to do is start believing it or walking in it and we’ll see that. So wherever you are, wherever your situation is, whatever you’re doing, whatever your day to day is start expecting God’s favor to show up in those day-to-day instances. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about raising your family. If you’re talking about doing, doing a small business on the side, we were talking about your ministry, your volunteer hours, whatever it is, expect the favor of God to show up in every area of your life. You start expecting it and start believing it and start being diligent in what you do. And you’ll see God’s favor, start showing up and you’ll start seeing supernatural opportunities and promotions. It’s powerful when you, when you allow God’s favor to be released in your life.
Carlie: Right. We’re intentional, Ashley was talking about going into employment type situations and opportunities and expecting favor. That doesn’t mean we treat people differently. That doesn’t mean we act like something we’re not, but we just have an expectation that God’s moving on our behalf, that he’s opening doors of opportunity to us. When we walk in that attitude, we have an awareness, a greater awareness of who God is in us than we do about the obstacles that might be in front of us, that we’re trying to overcome. I think you can have a greater and greater revelation of the favor of God in your life in Luke 2:52 it says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with men.” As we grow in our wisdom, as we grow in our understanding of the scriptures of the truth of God’s word, of who he is in us and what he’s put on the inside of us and what it really means to be a child of God. As we grow in that wisdom, we’ll start to see a growth in the area of favor, manifest presence of the era of favor in our life as well.
We can grow in these things. If Jesus can grow in them, then we can grow in them.
Ashley: Amen. For sure. Definitely.
Carlie: That’s important. In Luke, this is some of my favorite scripture here in Luke. This is when the angel visited Mary in Luke one verse 30, it says, “And the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.'” And goes on to tell her that she’s going to, to have a son. but this whole passage of Luke chapter one that you have found favor with God. We have found favor with God, amen? We have found favor with God. Verse 37. It says, “For with God, nothing will be impossible. And Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me, according to your word.'” If you travel on down a little bit further, it says in verse 45, “Blessed is she who believed for there will be a fulfillment of those things, which were told her from the Lord.”
When the angel visited you, Mary and exclaim to her, “You are blessed. You are highly favored among women.” She put faith in that she had to receive it. She had to say, “You know what, Lord, according to me, let it be unto me. According to your word.” The Lord is saying to you today, you have favor. You have my favor. I’m going before you, my blessings are going before you. They’re overtaking you. Whatever obstacle lies in front of you, I’ve already overcome it. I’ve made crooked paths straight and opened doors of opportunity for you. Amen. His provision and his blessing has gone before you. It doesn’t matter what it looks like. With God nothing is impossible. Let it be unto you, according to his word. And when you believe that, it’s just as true for you as it was from Mary, when she said, “Blessed is she who believed for there will be a fulfillment of those things, which were told her from the Lord.”
I think that there are some people watching today that are believing God for things for a very long time. And you’ve become frustrated. You’re in that place of frustration because you haven’t seen it manifest, but the Lord is like, “Hang on. You win if you don’t quit, my favor is for a lifetime it’s to your children’s children.” I know that there are some people watching and listening to this today that you’ve seen your children walk away from the Lord. And you’re not understanding how this blessing, this favor can be for a lifetime, but the Lord says they are mine, I am restoring them. You have trained your children up in the way that they should go and they shall not depart from it. There are children that are coming back to the Lord because you’ve been praying for them because the favor of God is lasting for a lifetime even to your children’s children.
Ashley: Amen. Praise God. That’s a good word. Then one last verse. You mentioned it. It’s Luke 1:28. Luke 1:28 says, “And having came in the angel said to Mary, ‘Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed, are you among women!'” Because Mary chose to believe the word that God has spoken to her because she chose to believe that. The angel said, “Rejoice, you are a highly favored one, the Lord is with you. And you are blessed among women.” Isn’t that powerful, praise God. Like you said, just like it was for Mary, it could be for us to, we can receive that favor. So that’s awesome. Praise God. We’re nearly out of time.
Carlie: Do you want to pray?
Ashley: Let me pray. I’d love to pray. I want to let you know that God’s favor is active in your life. Praise God. Like Carlie said, whether you’re seeing it in your natural circumstances or not, start believing that God’s favor is in your lifestyle.
Carlie: Start thanking him for it.
Ashley: Start thanking him. Yeah. Start thanking God for the favor that’s on your life. Amen. Father, God, I thank you for everyone listening and watching this program. I thank you, Lord, You’ve given us favor. I thank you, Lord, we have favor everywhere we go. I thank you, Lord, your favorite surrounding us. And I thank you for everyone that can hear my voice. I thank you for whatever situation they’re going in. They’re going to start expecting your favor to go ahead of them. They’re going to start to expect to walk in your favor, your supernatural favor. Favor that promotes. Favor that provides. Favor that breaks down barriers. Favor that restores relationships. I thank it all for your favor at being active in their life. And they’ll start seeing your favor in their life where they’ve never seen it before. I thank you for that Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.
Carlie: Amen.
Ashley: Praise God. Isn’t God good? You’ve got favor with God, favor of man. You’ve got a good understanding. Praise God. We’ll be back real soon with some more teachings about this, but until next time don’t just live a normal life. Why not go out and live the abundant life.
